Learning to Risk Manage Your Client’s Internet & Technology Exposures

Training Objective: With traditional commercial insurance, an insured has to have a physical loss in order to trigger a claim. With the creation of the Internet, it is now possible for an insured to suffer a loss without physical damage. Therefore, as businesses become more reliant on technology, there needs to be a better understanding of the new types of insurance policies that has a virtual loss as their claim trigger.

During the course of this training program, participants will gain a basic understanding with regard to risk managing this new type of Internet and Technology (network) insurance policy, how this new exposure is created and who needs this coverage. Participants will also be introduced to the basics of the Internet and how it has changed the traditional insurance policy. In addition, they will learn about the new risks and exposures that have been created by technology and how to risk manage them. Lastly, the participant will learn first hand about the underwriting process used to rate these risks. They will also compare and examine the policies from multiple carriers to better understand these new risks and exposures and the coverage that is available.
